St. Petersburg string quartet “Neva-Klassika” was founded in 1997. The team’s first performance was at the opening of International Exhibition “Intourfest-97” in January, 1997, and this date is considered to be the group’s birthday. The artistic director of the quartet is Pavel Korolenko, Prize Winner of International Musical Festival "The Peterhof's Assemblies", a musician well-known in the city. He is a concertmaster of several city’s symphony orchestras and of “Hankook Symphony Orchestra” (Seoul, South Korea) where he performed as a soloist and was recorded on television. All participants of the quartet are graduates of St. Petersburg Conservatoire. The collective body performs regularly at the best concert grounds of the city – Small Hall of the Philharmonic, Sheremetev Palace, the Hermitage (Jupiter Hall, Mauritania Hall, Leonardo da Vinci Hall) and others. The quartet has taken part in many international music festivals of the city: “Carnival in North Venice”, “Palaces of St. Petersburg”, cooperating actively with the Music Academy of the Hermitage; it has opened a number of art exhibitions and performed before some famous guests of the Hermitage: Prince Oransky, English Chamber of Commerce, etc.

In 2008 “Neva-Klassika” gave several concerts in Denmark and Norwegian, captivated the audience and received warm critical acclaim.

In 1999 the quartet “Neva-Klassika” recorded a compact disk “The Best Russian and European Music” (35 minutes), in 2004 the second, extended version of the disk was released (58 minutes). The company has created and released several DVD films about the Hermitage jointly with the firm “Master-Video” and the Hermitage: “A Journey in Time and Space” and “The Hermitage” in six languages of the world. They include the best music ever performed by the team and the music recorded by the Hermitage Orchestra: Camerata St. Petersburg (artistic director Saulius Sondeckis). The circulation of these disks exceeds thousands of copies; they are sold all over the world.

The Saint-Petersburg String Quartet “Neva-Klassika” – Prize Winner of the International Musical Festivals. The team’s repertoire includes the music of all epochs – from Baroque music, Bach, Handel to modern music – Stravinsky, Prokofiev and Bartok. The collective team performs chamber vocal music as well: Marina Korolenko, II violin of the quartet, has a remarkable voice, lyrical coloratura soprano, and her performances in Small Hall of the Philharmonic, Sheremetev Palace and other best concert halls of the city are always a great success.
